If you’re a soon-to-be groom and your wedding is coming up sooner than later, then it’s probably about time that you started thinking about what kind of gifts you’re going to be getting for your groomsmen. In all seriousness, this isn’t a task to be taken likely. The thing that you end up giving the men who you’re the closest to in this world isn’t just going to be seen as a memento of your wedding, but it’s also going to be a symbol of your friendship with each and every one of them.
It sounds like I’m blowing this way out of proportion, but I’m really not. You can ask any guy who’s been in a wedding before which gifts he’s liked the most and who they were from and I guarantee the better, more thoughtful gifts were from the friends whom they felt closer too. I only bring this up to remind you and every other groom out there who’s planning on waiting until the last minute to pick out what you’re going to be giving to your groomsmen isn’t a great plan. You may need a little bit of time to make sure that you’re getting your guys something that they can truly appreciate, which will be more likely to happen if you give them more personalized gifts that we’re going to be talking about in the next few paragraphs.
There are plenty of reasons to personalize your groomsmen gifts, such as making them much more meaningful and truly expressing how important your groomsmen truly are to you. Of course, there are also some reasons not to personalize them, with the most common being that you don’t have enough time before your wedding to get them ordered. All I would say in this situation it that you should make sure not to leave your groomsmen gift buying to the last minute so that you will at least have options when it comes to deciding what you really want to give them.
Aren’t Personalized Gifts Cheesy?
When I say that you should get personalized groomsmen gifts, I don’t mean that you should go and get the most stereotypical monogrammed groomsmen flasks that can find (although buying flasks for groomsmen is sometimes a good idea). What I actually mean is that you should put some thought into the process and make sure that what you do buy actually means something and is a thoughtful gift in a personal way to each individual groomsman. This could mean that you do, in fact go the route of literally getting your groomsmen something with their name or initials on it or it could also mean that you simply get them all sports groomsmen gifts based upon their favorite NFL team. The way that you personalize the gifts is totally up to you, but all I’m saying is that you should use the fact that you know the guys who are in your wedding better than most other people they know and it would be a shame if you didn’t use that information when buying them their gifts.
So, even though a lot of personalized gifts can be more on the cheesy side, that doesn’t mean that yours have to. Just think through what your groomsmen would like to have and what their individual personalities are and get the gift according to that, not what you feel like are the ‘standard’ groomsmen gifts that every other groom seems to give out.
